Chapter 23 (Please Teach Me Tutor)

Episode 23: Regular Exam (1)

<Yu Ah-ra’s POV>

“Baek Han-beom?”

Yua opened her eyes wide without realizing it and looked at Baek Han-beom.

‘Is this the Baek Han-beom I know?’

Baek Han-beom.
Among this year’s Academy freshmen, there were three promising young stars who were called supernovas.

Lee Hye-ri, the younger sister of world-class tanker Lee Kang-san, who has the fastest speed of anyone. Kwon Jun-hyeok, who had experience clearing A-class dungeons with the influential guild ‘Hopan’ before entering the academy. And Baek Han-beom, a promising tanker who has been chosen to succeed Lee Kang-san as the next tanker to lead Korea.

Except for Lee Hye-ri, the two people were all very active in Class A. Of course, they were people from a completely different world from Yu Ah-ra. If it was Baek Han-beom, he would have had to form a team with the members of Class A.

Why are we, the D class, and the team…?

“I guess you’re wondering why we ended up on the same team.”

Baek Han-beom, wearing snow-white armor, said.

“Uh, huh? Oh, no. Hahaha.”
“I applied because I was curious about Lee Hye-ri and Yu Ah-ra, who beat us all out and suddenly took 1st and 2nd place.”
“Ah…….”

Baek Han-beom bowed his head.

“Please take good care of me, senior.”
“Ah, yes…….”

Yua nodded awkwardly and accepted his greeting.
Senior?
I’m not used to being treated like this.

But she couldn’t hide the corners of her lips going up. She was always treated as a loser because she was a repeat student. It was strange to be treated like this for the first time by someone, but it felt good.

“The team balance is good. I’m the tank, Hye-ri is the melee dealer, and senior Yu Ah-ra assists with telekinesis……”
“No.”

Lee Hye-ri interrupted Baek Han-beom’s words.

“I’m the tanker. Don’t try to take my place.”
“… Are you still stubborn about being a tanker?”
“Yes. I won first place as a tanker. I deserve it too.”

Baek Han-beom saw Yu Ah-ra.

“Senior, you decide. You know very well. How well Ms. Lee Hye-ri did.”
“Me, me?”
“Yes. Do you really think she can play tank?”
“… Um, that is…….”

I thought. There are many gaps created by Lee Hye-ri, who was not a tank. Lee Hye-ri did not have a provocation skill or a skill that blocked wide-area attacks. That’s why the monsters and students immediately ignored the tank and ran towards the dealers. However, Yu Ah-ra was able to take first place because she covered it well.
Yes.

‘Lee Hye-ri doesn’t fit the tank.’

But, you know, Yu Ah-ra knows how hard Lee Hye-ri is working to become a tanker.
It’s an important test.
There was a bet with Kim Si-woo on the results of this test.

Kim Si-woo’s words that he will grant anything if he gets first place.

‘If you fall outside the top 5, I recommend you take my private lessons.’

For some reason, I didn’t like that. I had a desire to monopolize him a little more.

At the same time, she wanted to trust Lee Hye-ri, her comrade who had fought alongside her.
Two conflicting desires swam inside Yu Ah-ra.

“Yes.”

Yu Ah-ra nodded heavily.

“Is that so?”
“Hye-ri can definitely do it. I believe in her.”
“I see. I understand. If you say so, senior.”

Lee Hye-ri exhaled air and strengthened her resolve.

“Then I will go down as a sub tank. The attacks of the various villains we will face are varied, so the two of us will try to hold out for as long as possible. In the meantime, Senior Yu Ah-ra will rescue the civilians and open a way for them to escape.”
“Good.”

I thought the clash of opinions would be prolonged, but Baek Han-beom unexpectedly backed down obediently.

“Then, please take care of it. This second test will be broadcast to the general public via video, so please show us your best.”
“Okay.”

The determination to become top student was solidified. As Baek Han-beom said, the second test, which was a test against a villain, was released to the general public as a video, unlike the first and third tests that were held privately and the fourth test that was only shown to scouts.
The reasons were varied.
It was to show the public how the hunters were trained and how they took the test, and how fiercely they fought.
The problem was that the video, which had initially started as a device to ease the conflict between the Awakened and the general public, had now become a kind of sport.
There is now criticism that it has become a kind of showcase for the Academy cadets to introduce themselves, but it was a tradition that still continues because the video of them taking the test was popular.

“Let’s work hard.”

The newly formed 33rd group of Class D looked at each other and strengthened their resolve.

<Kim Si-woo’s POV>

-The cadets are coming in.

I was immersed in my training, with my cell phone on in a corner of the training room. As the announcer announced that the second test had begun, the cadets entered the huge simulation room.
The last one to enter was Yu Ah-ra’s group 33.

“You were nervous.”

I watched the video while sweating profusely. The camera focused on Group 33, including Yu Ah-ra.
Yu Ah-ra and Lee Hye-ri, the main characters who caused an uproar in the first test.
Comments poured in along with the host’s explanation that she, who had been a repeat student, suddenly came in second place.

-Last year’s failure came in second?
-Did she feed money? How can that work?
-The academy is making false heroes again. How come these kids never change?
-But she’s really pretty.
-Don’t talk nonsense. Lee Hye-ri is better.
-Is Lee Hye-ri better? Is Yu Ah-ra better?
-Ban her for low-level aggro.
-If you keep doing that, you’ll get sued.

There were countless troll chats posted on the Internet. It was fortunate that Yu Ah-ra didn’t see those posts.

-Isn’t that Baek Han-beom next to him?
-The combination of Baek Han-beom and Lee Hye-ri is crazy.
-Isn’t it unfair that the two most promising players are on the same team?
-This one’s going to get first place.
-Tell that loser in between to get out. It seems like Lee Hye-ri quickly got second place in the first test.
-Is the warrant officer higher? Is the lieutenant higher?
-Where’s the warrant officer? Lol. Are you a military veteran? Lol.

-Stop falling for the aggro, you idiot.
-But didn’t Lee Hye-ri say she was going to change to a tank?
-A tank with that talent? Why on earth?
-Lee Kang-san is laughing.

Baek Han-Beom.
A promising tanker who has been receiving much attention recently was also there.
He was an unexpected team member.

“The team balance is not good.”

There’s no way Lee Hye-ri would have said she’d be a dealer. A tank cleric, a specialist tank, and a psychokinesis. It was a combination that was lacking in damage.
What if Lee Hye-ri had been active as a dealer?

It was clear that more effort would be put into rescuing civilians than hunting down villains.

If we do this wrong, Yu Ah-ra will end up facing the warth alone.

“Do your best.”

I cheered for Yu Ah-ra on the screen. You are a student I raised. If you do well, my reputation will go up.
It won’t be easy, seeing your teammates.

“If you’re going to do it, do it first.”

I will grant you any wish you desire.

I did set a condition that if she didn’t get below 5th place, she would have to promote my private tutoring.
But that was just a slight penalty for her.

‘If you didn’t tell the other kids on purpose, it means you want to monopolize me.’

It’s not that I don’t understand her possessiveness. Even though she passed the first test in second place, Yu Ah-ra was still standing on the edge of a cliff. She must have been greedy to get a little better grades.
That’s why she walked.
Conditions that she would hate.

But to me, the real publicity would be for Yu Ah-ra to take first place. To beat all of those talented hunter prospects and have the Academy cadets take first place. That would be the best publicity.

“Work hard. Don’t give up.”

I cheered on Yu Ah-ra on the screen while swinging my sword. I don’t know if it was because of my mood, but my face seemed to be somewhat relaxed.

[Your heartfelt support is delivered.]
[Passive: The effect of Growth Assist (SSS) is realized.]

What?

[Additional effects applied to Yu Ah-ra are applied.]
[Additional stats are applied for a certain period of time.]

Hey, look at this?

“If there was something like this, you should have told me a long time ago.”

<Yu Ah-ra’s POV>

My body felt strangely light.

“What?”

Yua clenched her fist. She felt stronger than usual.
How should I say?
It felt several times better than when she was in peak condition. This was a state that couldn’t be explained by simply saying that her condition had improved.

‘Is it because I’ve been practicing hard these days?’

If not that, nothing really comes to mind.
If I had to pick one.

I slept with Kim Si-woo’s clothes in my arms to increase my concentration the day before the exam.
I told him, that I would wash them, but I kept putting them off because I felt bad about them, and now I sleep with his clothes in my arms like a teddy bear.
I thought it was strange, but I couldn’t help it.
When I sleep like that, I sleep better.

‘Of course I said I would do the laundry for you, teacher… … .’

She blushed as she remembered what she had done to Si-woo’s clothes.

“Ugh, forget it. Forget it. Now is the time to focus.”
“Forget what?” Lee Hye-ri, standing next to me, asked.

“Uh, yeah? Oh, it’s nothing! Ha, hahaha.”

Yu Ah-ra, who was stung by her innocent eyes for no reason, waved her hand urgently.
I can’t say it.
How can I say it?
I slept the day before the exam with a man’s clothes tightly in my arms.

“Ah-ra, your face is red.”
“Why, why is it so hot? Is it because it’s, uh, summer? Hah.”
“It’s cold because the air conditioner is on full blast.”
“Okay, everyone, concentrate.”

“It’s starting soon.”

Yu Ah-ra focused her mind on Baek Han-beom’s words. Even in the midst of all this, time was passing by.

-Okay, we’ll start the second test in 10 seconds!

The voice of Professor Park Ji-yoon, who was the moderator, was heard.

-10! 9! 8! 7… … .

As her voice continued, tension began to build in the scene. And the appearance of the simulation field changed.

A city half-collapsed due to an attack by villains.

It was a space that reenacted the Villain Alliance’s Chuncheon attack incident that occurred four years ago.
It was a test assignment created with the intention of not forgetting the tragedy of that day and moving forward.

I saw Chuncheon created through a simulation.

-The test begins!

With those words, the voice of the host, Professor Park Ji-yoon, disappeared.

“Gyaaaah!!!”

People began to scream from all directions.

Kwaaang!

I could hear the villain moving in the distance.

“Let’s move.”

It was a more realistic test than ever. They moved forward, keeping a close eye on all sides.
