Chapter 14 (Abandoned Disciple of Heavenly Demon)

Episode 14: Encounter with the Heavenly Demon (1)

* * *

“Now, speak everything.”

“What are you talking about?”

As soon as he returned to his residence, Jin Myeong called Yang Jeon.

“Why does the Vice-Sect Leader care about me?”

It really can’t be anything but strange.

Of course, he was interested in Jin Myeong’s incompetence and could have helped him by seeing his potential.

“But even if it was your request, he’s not an easy person to meet.”

“Yes. How can I arrange a meeting with the Vice-Sect Leader?”

“Are you illegitimate son of the Vice-Sect Leader?”

“Ahem!”

Yang Jeon coughed in vain at Jin Myeong’s words.

“Now tell me the truth.”

“Phew.”

“Why does the Vice-Sect Leader care about me, and why are you, one of the Vice-Sect Leader’s people, here?”

Jin Myeong felt like he had to know that.

“Hmm. I guess you don’t remember that either.”

“Okay.”

“Yes. It’s not a secret, so I’ll tell you.”

The reason why Yang Jeon is here. And the reason why Vice-Sect Leader Shin Ho-Ryang has feelings for Jin-Myeong.

“It is thanks to Young Master’ father.”

“That thing again?”

“Yes?”

When his father, whose face he had never seen before, was mentioned again, Jin Myeong muttered without realizing it.

“That person who let me go when I was almost dead said the same thing.”

“…….”

Jin Myeong spoke as he recalled the pursuer who had saved his life. His father must have been quite a great man.

“Hmm. Do you know where the Vice-Sect Leader’s best force is?”

“no.”

“This is the Gwangpungdae (Mad Wind Squad).”

The military force that Vice-Sect Leader, Gwangma (Mad Demon) boasts of.

It was said that if Heavenly Demon had the Mayeongdae (魔影隊), Gwangma had the Gwangpungdae (魔隊).

“So why did you bring that up?”

“Because Young Master’s father was the one who gave the entire Gwangpungdae to him.”

“That’s a bit surprising.”

Jin Myeong heard that his father was the leader of quite a formidable force. But he never thought that the armed forces would be the Vice-Sect Leader’s Mad Wind force.

“He was quite a great man. My father…….”

“You speak as if you don’t know him at all.”

“I can’t help it. I don’t even know his face.”

Yang Jeon couldn’t help but let out an awkward laugh at Jin Myeong’s answer. In fact, Yang Jeon doesn’t know Jin Myeong’s father very well either.

“Anyway, it is said that Young Master’ father died in battle on behalf of his superior.”

“Hmm?”

Jin Myeong looked puzzled.

“There was a time when the Vice-Sect Leader went to Jungwon for a while.”

There, the Vice-Sect Leader was attacked by unidentified people. They were more powerful than expected, so much so that even the Vice-Sect Leader, Mad Demon, felt threatened.

“In that situation, trying to protect the Vice-Sect Leader……”

It means that he died while guarding Shin Ho-ryang.

“Hmm. I see. Is that why he cares about me? Because I’m his old subordinate’s son?”

“That’s part of it, and it’s also because he was impressed by Young Master’s talent.”

Jin Myeong showed his talents at a young age while training at Mad Wind Squad.

“So, the Vice-Sect Leader wanted to take me as a disciple, but…….”

It seemed that Heavenly Demon also liked Jin Myeong’s talent.

Since he had the ability to grasp the essence of a martial art just by looking at it, and even to identify its weaknesses, it was only natural that he would become greedy.

“So, the Vice-Sect Leader gave Young Master up to the Leader.”

“If the leader was greedy and it was passed over right away……”

Perhaps, Gwangma did not view Jin Myeong’s talents favourably.

“Well, I don’t know what happened between the leader and the vice leader.”

He may have thought it better to send it to Heavenly Demon, or Heavenly Demon may have taken it away by force.

He may have given a different price to Mad Demon, or he may have thought it was okay to go to Heavenly Demon as Jin Myeong said.

“I guess he thought, it was a good idea to send me away because my body is like this.”

“ha ha ha.”

Yang Jeon couldn’t answer and just let out an awkward laugh.

“Excellent talent and a body that can’t keep up with it?”

“I heard that you adapted to the basic training right away.”

Jin Myeong also accepted internal energy methods and body training. In fact, Jin Myeong’s body was well developed and he had quite a bit of internal energy.

“But it is a body abandoned by heaven.”

Jin Myeong thought that it was not an innate constitution.

‘There might be something like a curse.’

In fact, wasn’t there an artifact that used his blood in the place where he discovered martial arts?

To Jin Myeong, it didn’t seem any different from magic.

‘But there is no way to prove it, and no way to solve it.’

In fact, he was just hoping that would happen. Wouldn’t it be okay to have a goal of resolving a body that can’t even perform martial arts?

If Jin Myeong hadn’t been able to learn martial arts that didn’t involve using his body, he might have given up on everything.

“Anyway, is it because I’m the son of a subordinate he cares about, that he sent you?”

“That could be the case.”

Jin Myeong was eventually abandoned by Heavenly Demon. Because he didn’t learn martial arts properly.

Eventually, unlike the other disciples, he was eliminated and ended up alone.

‘It seems like I’ve been living thanks to my father, whose face I don’t even know.’

It’s been like that since Jin Myeong first opened his eyes. The person who released him said that he received a favour from Jin Myeong’s father.

And thanks to his father, he even gained the favour of the Vice-Sect Leader.

Even though Jin Myeong didn’t know his face or his name, he couldn’t help but express his gratitude.

* * *

It was about five days after Jin Myeong had returned from his visit to the Vice-Sect Leader’s Hall.

“Young Master.”

Yang Jeon came to see Jin Myeong, who was training in the garden as usual.

“It’s definitely great.”

Yang Jeon stuck out his tongue as he looked at the five swords floating around Jin Myeong.

Phew!

As the sword passed right by him, Yang Jeon was startled and stepped back.

“Are you doing this on purpose?”

“What? You came to the place where the sword moves themself.”

At Jin Myeong’s words, Yang Jeon frowned and tried to approach him.

Phew!

But again, a sword passed right in front of his face, and he couldn’t help but gasp in surprise again.

“Stop joking.”

Although he said that, Yang Jeon still couldn’t take his eyes off Jin Myeong’s sword. This would be especially true since it was a martial art that was completely outside of his common sense.

“But what exactly brings you here?”

“Yes?”

Yang Jeon, who had been blankly staring at the sword floating in the air, only then came to his senses.

“You didn’t come here to watch me practice martial arts, did you?”

“Surely not.”

Yang Jeon let out a small sigh.

“I was just watching Young Master practice martial arts and forgot about my business for a moment.”

“I guess it wasn’t that big of a deal?”

“No. It must be something very important. The leader called me.”

“Who?”

Contrary to what he said about important matters, Yang Jeon spoke casually. That’s why Jin Myeong also ignored those words without thinking much of them.

“The leader.”

“Yeah. The leader. Who? Me?”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Yeah. It was pretty important business.”

Yang Jeon nodded in response to Jin Myeong’s words.

“Yes. I said it was important business.”

“How long do I have?”

“You should go right now.”

“Oh, now?”

Jin Myeong chuckled.

“Yes. Now.”

And Yang Jeon also laughed. But he was slowly backing away.

“It seems like something very urgent, but you were just making small talk.”

The swords floating around Jin Myeong began preparing to shoot at Yang Jeon at any moment.

“Hey, is it okay for you to stay like this?”

Yang Jeon felt pressured and shouted in a hurry.

“Shouldn’t we get ready quickly and go to the leader?”

As he said, there was no time to be like this.

“It’s been a while since the Heavenly Demon called you?”

During that time, Heavenly Demon did not call Jin Myeong. It would be more correct to say that there was nothing to call for.

“But why did he call me?”

“I don’t know. The leader called you, so can you tell me why later?”

All that was delivered was a letter telling them to come to the Heavenly Demon’s Temple.

‘Is it because of the Vice-Sect Leader?’

There was no reason for the cult leader to call him right now.

If that’s the case, then it must mean that the Vice-Sect Leader, Gwangma, was ultimately involved.

‘It’s only been five days.’

It seemed that the madman’s personality was more impatient than he thought.

“If you are late, the leader might get very angry. Then he might not call you again.”

“That’s not good.”

Right now, he had to make Heavenly Demon realize that he too was useful.

However, Jin Myeong did not want to be out of favour, because he was late when the leader called him.

It was possible that the Vice-Sect Leader might kick away, the opportunity he had just created.

“Whew. I guess I should go quickly.”

“Yes. So, get ready quickly.”

Jin Myeong glared at Yang Jeon, who answered with a sly smile, and then moved to prepare to go to the sect leader’s temple.

Yang Jeon quickly washed off the sweat with the water he had prepared in advance and put on his best clothes.

“Please hurry and go.”

When the preparations were finished, Yang Jeon said.

“Don’t you usually take a carriage in times like this?”

“Where is the carriage? If Your Majesty takes up an important post, you may be able to get a carriage.”

Jin Myeong sighed at Yang Jeon’s words.

“Okay, let’s go.”

“Okay. Let’s go. Let’s go. I’ll guide you.”

“Yes.”

The two of them left the manor and headed straight to Heavenly Demon Temple.

‘It’s so ridiculously gorgeous.’

Jin Myeong couldn’t close his mouth as he looked at Heavenly Demon Temple, the residence of the sect leader.

The main shrine? It’s big and fancy.

But Heavenly Demon Temple was so good that it made even that kind of sub-religious story look shabby.

‘It really was a surname just like the name.’

It was like a miniature version of the castle you see on TV or the internet. Just this Heavenly Demon Temple Castle alone seemed like a small city.

“Please come in.”

“Whew. Okay.”

Jin Myeong immediately headed to the main gate of Heavenly Demon Temple.

“I am the youngest disciple of the religious leader, Prince Jin Myeong.”

“Hmm.”

The soldier guarding the main gate nodded to Yang Jeon’s words and quietly looked at Jin Myeong. Then he nodded and gave a signal to the other drones next to him.

Grrrrr!

Soon the huge door that had been tightly shut began to open.

“Go.”

As the main gate opened, Jin Myeong went inside with Yang Jeon.

The two moved straight towards the Sect Leader’s Palace within Heavenly Demon Castle, guided by the maid who had been waiting.

‘If we really have to be specific, is this where the emperor does his work?’

Jin Myeong stared blankly at the huge temple. It looks similar to what you see in historical dramas.

‘Hmm. In historical dramas, isn’t it usually the case that the subjects would line up in a place like this and listen to the emperor’s words?’

A huge pavilion. And a huge square from which to view the pavilion.

“Your Majesty! How long are you going to keep doing this?”

As Jin Myeong was quietly looking up at the pavilion in the huge square, Yang Jeon called out to him.

“Go, go. Is it all my fault that I’m late because of you?”

“Why is this my fault? It was Young Master’s fault for not practicing footwork martial art.”

“You don’t support me at all.”

Jin Myeong clicked his tongue and immediately started moving towards the main hall of the sect.
