Chapter 13 (Please Teach Me Tutor)
Episode 13: Regular Exam
The atmosphere was different from the regular monthly evaluations.
Yu Ah-ra could feel other cadets’ eyes were looking at her. They weren’t looking at a repeater who had fallen behind, but rather at a competitor.
“I think they’re after us.”
“Of course. Because we got first place in the monthly evaluation a week ago.”
Yu Ah-ra made up her mind.
‘It’s okay.’
She had special training with Kim Si-woo, so it’ll be okay. Even though there was an accident during the process. Her face burned just thinking about it.
‘Whew, come to your senses.’
‘Now is not the time to be distracted.’
‘Come on, Yu Ah-ra.’
“Our strategy is simple. Solve the mission and take down all the guys who attack.”
“It’s simpler than I thought.”
“I’ve been racking my brain for a week and this is the best. They’re all going to come to us anyway, so there’s no point in wasting time.”
“I agree. That’s the most effective.”
The problem was Jang Won-hoo. How would that guy come out?
It was necessary to be on guard for when he would betray.
“But our mission has changed a lot.”
As Kim Si-woo had told her.
‘Was it because she had exploited the loopholes in the simulation?’
All the areas she had targeted had been modified to something else. There was even a mission to rescue those annoying civilian.
‘There is a way to do this too.’
-The test begins. 5, 4, 3….
Yu Ah-ra, who entered the simulation room, focused on the hologram that appeared in front of her eyes.
The moment that number became 0, the test began.
1st place.
Absolutely 1st place.
Yu Ah-ma made up her mind to be top. And.
-0.
-Please complete your mission safely.
The exam has begun.
Tanker Lee Hye-ri is in the vanguard, while Jang Won-hoo and Yu Ah-ra are in the back. They moved with their respective triangles positioned at the corners.
“Kill them!”
The first raiders came faster than the first mission. A party hiding in an alleyway ambushed them.
Lee Hye-ri marks enemies from the front, but as she is not a professional tank, it was difficult for her to draw the aggro of all three enemies.
“No!” Lee Hye-ri shouted. A cadet from the thief class passed by Lee Hye-ri and approached Yu Ah-ra.
“If we just deal with the telekinesis…….”
It was common knowledge among hunters that psychic magicians were weak against agility-related professions.
‘It’s over’, Lee Hye-ri thought so after breaking through the enemy.
Whew.
“Uh?”
Yu Ah-ra evaded the enemy’s attack by twisting her body slightly. Everyone on the scene looked at her with surprised faces.
“What, what is it?”
Even other students were surprised.
‘Oh, really….’
The cadets of the thief class approached as Kim Si-woo as instructed.
‘The thief class should pay more attention to the movement of the lower body than the upper body. And beginners usually use the official pattern of going into the opponent’s arms when fighting sorcerers. Why? Because it’s the most efficient.’
It was just as Si-woo said. An attack that was much faster than hers, but was visible enough to be avoided.
“You, you what the heck…….”
The thief couldn’t finish his sentence. Yu Ah-ra’s telekinesis instantly tightened around his entire body.
-23-D Student Jo Jae-hyun. Determined dead. Eliminated.
The simulation’s magnetic field pulled thief’s equipment to the floor.
Crash.
“Ugh!”
The test for the dropouts ends here. Jo Jae-hyun who was the first to drop out. He will probably be receiving a probationary status.
“This physic!”
A warrior class cadet rushing in to relieve Lee Hye-ri’s aggro. His movements were also visible.
‘The warrior class has different attack methods depending on the weapon, but the one wielding an axe moves very quickly. You should be able to dodge it at this speed.’
The pattern was as Kim Si-woo said. Ah-ra avoided the attack of the guy, and used telekinesis.
-23-D Student Lee Yu-heon. Determined dead. Eliminated.
And then again, eliminated.
The one left.
-23-D Choi Mi-ju, student. Determined dead. Eliminated.
Killed by Lee Hye-ri.
The two people looked at Yu Ah-ra with dumbfounded expressions.
“What kind of sorcerer can dodge attacks from thieves and warriors so nimbly? Are you really a repeat student?” Jang Won-hu asked.
“Yeah.”
“But what the heck is this…….”
“…….”
Both Lee Hye-ri and Jang Won-hu had expressions of incomprehension.
“There’s a secret.”
“What is it?”
“I can’t tell you.”
Yu Ah-ra realized that it was Kim Si-woo. That person, is a bit of a pervert and strange, but he definitely has skills.
That’s why Yu Ah-ra didn’t want to talk about him.
Why?
If other people found out, he might not be able to take care of her anymore.
It was an instinctive rejection.
“Let’s go quickly. We don’t have time.”
What Yu Ah-ra said was true. Even at this very moment, other teams will continue to move forward.
***
“What a ridiculous move.”
Park Ji-yoon stared at the screen and stuck out her tongue.
“That just seemed like a practiced move, do you agree?”
“I think so.”
Park Ji-yoon nodded to the words of Professor Choi Ik-hyeon, who was watching the test video with her.
“It’s clear that last year, or even at the beginning of the first semester, she wasn’t a student who showed such movements……”
“There’s a record that she recently ranked in the middle in the physical test.”
“Huh, it seems like she’s hired a teacher, a really skilled person.”
“Is it a retiree?”
“I’m not sure. But one thing is certain.”
Park Ji-yoon listened to Choi Ik-hyeon’s words. He was a master at scratching people, but at the same time, he was one of the best physical professors. His perspective would be different from hers, who was a sorcerer.
“That student’s teacher is clearly a seasoned expert. At least S-class. I would say an S-class Hunter.”
“Who could it be?”
“I don’t know. But we need to look at him.”
“An invitation to the Academy…?”
“That would be impossible. If he had wanted to do that, he would have entered any Academy.”
The two professors watched Yu Ah-ra relentlessly destroying the mission. Yu Ah-ra on the screen was eliminating another student at this very moment.
-23-D Student Yang Hyun-woo. Determined dead, Eliminated.
It seems like it’s already decided who will get first place in the regular exam.
***
“Ugh, ugh.”
Yu Ah-ra, Lee Hye-ri, and Jang Won-hoo reached the final destination.
‘Now, the end.’
‘It was really the end. If only I cross that finish line…’
That was when.
Yu Ah-ra twisted her body to avoid the ominous murderous intent that stabbed her flesh.
“Crunch!”
It was a familiar weapon. As expected, it was Jang Won-hoo. The short spear he used, a melee dealer of the agility type, was aimed at Yu Ah-ra’s back.
“Why are you doing this again?”
“Because I got last place in the monthly evaluation because of someone. I had to get first place no matter what.”
“We could have easily won first place if we had gone together.”
“Then I wouldn’t have been able to get the scholarship.”
That was when. Three rough-looking men walked out from between the buildings.
“Wow, you’re really fast. If you had moved a little slow, you would have been dead.”
“Good job, Won-hoo.”
“Look at that. The other teams must have really let their guard down.”
These were the cadets who chatted with Jang Won-hoo during the first monthly evaluation.
“You really?”
“I calculated the scores, and it looks like I can only get first place if you guys get eliminated.”
Jang Won-hoo and his colleagues with their sly speech patterns. Lee Hye-ri spoke as she clung closely to Yu Ah-ra.
“Watch out. They’re all C+ level or higher” Lee Hye-ri warned.
“C+ level?”
A first-year student who entered this year has a C+ in overall stats. Even though Yu Ah-ra repeated a year, she can’t even get a C.
‘Is this the stat difference?’
“If you just do as I did before, you can win. I’ll hold on…….” Jang Won-hu looked at the two people and warned them in solemn tone, “be careful. That girl, Yu Ah-ra, if you approach her normally, she’ll dodge your attacks with strange movements, so always approach her in an irregular manner.”
“Okay, good.”
2 to 4.
Clearly a disadvantageous situation.
Yu Ah-ra who had calmed down after feeling betrayed, thought it was worth a try.
C+ grade.
‘Teacher Si-woo was at least A-class or higher.’
There was a huge difference between A-class and C+.
‘I can avoid it.’
One counterattack is all you need.
At the same time, four cadets rushed in at the same time.
Two of them were Lee Hye-ri.
But the other two were not.
Jang Won-hu and the guy next to him, Dung-chi.
Yu Ah-ra saw their movements. A little different from the pattern she learned from Kim Si-woo.
Yu Ah-ra panicked. However, her body, which had been hit hundreds of times and practiced avoiding being caressed, remembered.
In this situation.
‘What should I do?’
‘Where should I throw myself?’
Before Ah-ra could even think, she threw herself where her instinct told her to.
Sideways.
Rolling boldly.
Yu Ah-ra body escaped the attacks of the two cadets. At that moment, the bodies of the two cadets who were aiming to stab and cut her lost their purpose and were swung to one side.
Ah-ra reached out her hand.
“Get behind.”
Powerful telekinesis.
If Yu Ah-ra’s abilities had not been adjusted through simulation, the two people’s bodies would have shrunk under her telekinesis.
“Ugh!”
-23-D Jang Won-hu, student. Determined Dead. Eliminated.
-23-D Lee Deok-pal, student. Determined Dead. Eliminated.
And she saw notification.
[The mana aura that reacts to you with strong power becomes stronger.]
[Mana stat increases.]
[Mana: B -> A]
Yu Ah-ra stats grew.
The rest was simple.
Yu Ah-ra and Lee Hye-ri took care of the remaining two cadets and crossed the finish line first.
[Survivor]
[Class 23-D, Group 33, Yoo Ah-ra]
[Class 23-D, Group 33, Lee Hye-ri]
“Okay!”
But the joy was short-lived.
-The battle to determine the final winner begins.
The test forced the two to a final showdown.
***
You can attack opposing cadets. This also means that cadets on the same team can attack you. This is the biggest difference between regular exams and monthly evaluations.
They said that it was intentionally composed in this way.
Because it was quicker to show than to say that in the Hunter world, there are no eternal friends or eternal enemies.
“In the end, it turned out like this.”
Lee Hye-ri pulled out the spear calmly.
“I thought in the end it would just be you and me.”
Yu Ah-ra swallowed her saliva as she looked at the spear that Lee Hye-ri had picked.
‘Strong.’
Since they were on the same side, Yu Ah-ra had seen how strong Lee Hye-ri was.
Lee Hye-ri was ridiculously strong compared to the other cadets. It was just that she didn’t fit the tank role. She didn’t have any of the basic aggro skills that tanks have, and she played the role of a tank, not a dealer.
Lee Hye-ri got assigned to Class D, which didn’t match her abilities.
‘How could she easily take on two other cadets on her own?’
‘It was even clear that it wasn’t her real ability.’
Lee Hye-ri hadn’t use any dealer skills on purpose.
A tank that uses a spear that is completely out of place with tanks. The ability to defeat multiple cadets with only pure technique and no skills.
But because of that, Yu Ah-ra also had a chance.
‘We have to decide the match in the early stages when Hye-ri doesn’t use her skills.’
Somehow, Ah-ra thought she can use telekinesis to eliminate Hye-ri.
That’s the only way to win.
‘I have made up my mind to become top student.’
‘I have become accustomed to the numerous pattern and tricks that Kim Si-woo has taught me. I can win no matter what now.’
“Phew.”
-The battle begins.
The alarm rang.
Lee Hye-ri came running quickly.
“Haat!”
Yu Ah-ra moved to avoid her trajectory.
Translator Notes:
Overall the exam arc was decent.
