Chapter 24 (Abandoned Disciple of Heavenly Demon)
Episode 24: Kunlun School (3)
‘Did they deliberately said it like that for us to hear?’ Jin Myeong looked at those muttering as they looked this way.
‘They seem to be Taoist priests of the Kunlun sect.’
Although, they were not wearing Kunlun sect clothes. But Jin Myeong could feel similar energy from them that he felt earlier from Taoist priests he had met when crossing the Kunlun Mountains.
‘They’re not looking this way, but…’
The gaze of the Taoist priests wearing ordinary uniforms was not directed in their direction, but their attention was focused solely on Jin Myeong table.
‘Even others can feel it.’
“I think they wanted us to listen”, Mok Ja-gyeong said, putting food in her mouth again.
“That’s definitely true”, Bi Yeong also nodded in agreement. And although Jin Myeong didn’t answer, he agreed with both their opinions.
‘They knew who we were. But if they spoke that loudly, it was meant for us to listen.’
‘Their voice isn’t that loud. But it wasn’t a whisper either.’
‘No matter how noisy the inn was because there were many guests, the volume was loud enough for our group to hear.’
“Are you going to leave them like that?” asked Jin Myeong. Hearing it, everyone stopped and looked at him.
“Why does youngest think so?” Jin Myeong frowned with a sheepish smile.
‘You ask even though you know everything.’
Jin Myeong clicked his tongue, but he couldn’t ignore Mok Ja-gyeong words, so he spoke his thoughts out loud.
“We already knew that the Kunlun Sect would be watching us anyway. It would be strange if they didn’t do it.”
Jin Myeong glanced at the Taoist priests as he said that, “but now he wants us to hear him and argue with him.”
‘If things get heated like that, it will eventually become easier for the Kunlun faction to take action.’
Anyway, with that small number of people, they won’t be able to beat the people Jin Myeong’s group right now.
It was clear that they would eventually die or be seriously injured, and that was what the Kunlun Sect was after.
“Because they want to fight with us to end.”
“But Kunlun Sect don’t have anything to gain from that.”
“Why wouldn’t? Not only the disciples of Heavenly Demon, but the future Heavenly Demon could all be killed.”
Bi Yeong’s face hardened at Jin Myeong’s answer.
“You thought they could kill us all?”
“Well, there aren’t that many of us, only about thirty.”
It is by no means a large number to deal with one sect, let alone one of the nine factions.
Of course, there are also the disciples of Heavenly Demon, and the successors of the elders, so it feels like a small elite group.
“But from the perspective of the Old Conservative Taoists, they might not think that way.”
From the Kunlun sect’s perspective, these are people that are too good to miss. If Orthodox Alliance manages kill this group, they will be taking away the future of the Heavenly Demon Sect.
“If that’s not enough, they can ask other sects for help.”
Of course, it is a blow to one’s pride. It is difficult to deal with this number of people and have to reach out to other old-timers.
So, they probably won’t really ask for help.
“The important thing is not whether we can deal with them or whether they can annihilate us.”
What is important is, Kunlun Sect sent their young warriors to provoke Heavenly Demon Sect. And that too get justification, so that no one can point a finger at them.
For that to happen, the warriors of the Heavenly Demon Sect had to start a fight first.
‘The fact that they provoked us first can be denied anyway.’
In the end, the Kunlun Sect will sacrifice their disciples for the sake of the pretext that the Heavenly Demon Sect attacked first.
Jin Myeong never thought those Taoists would survive against those who are here now.
“Oh, I see.”
Bi Yeong looked at Jin Myeong with a surprised expression.
“I never thought Youngest would think that far.”
Jin Myeong knew that Kunlun Sect hated the Heavenly Demon Sect. But he couldn’t help but be surprised at the words that they would not hesitate to do something that could easily lead to war.
But listening to Jin Myeong’s words, Bi Yeong began to think that it could really be true.
“It’s all just imagination, so don’t take it seriously.”
“No, now that I hear it, I think that’s definitely what I should think”, said Mok Ja-gyeong agreeing with Jin Myeong, but had meaningful smile. He probably thought so too.
‘It felt like Mok Ja-gyeong already knew the truth and asked as if he was testing me’, thought Jin Myeong looking at that smile.
“Okay, then what should we do?” asked Mok Ja-gyeong, as he slowly got up from his seat. Then, without anyone being able to stop him, he walked towards the Taoist priests.
“Wh…..what’s going on?”
They looked puzzled as they saw Mok Ja-gyeong suddenly approaching.
‘What? You seem really surprised?’
Jin Myeong looked at the expressions on the Taoist priests’ faces and realized that something was strange.
‘If that’s acting, then it’s worthy of receiving an award for acting. They really didn’t seem to expect that Mok Ja-gyeong would come to them.’
‘So, you really thought we couldn’t hear?’
‘It seems that they did not properly understand the inaction of those who were here.’
These disciples must had been assigned to keep an eye on the group, since this group just looked like martial artists of the Heavenly Demon Sect.
‘It would be better to do it in full voice.’
Jin Myeong couldn’t understand why they were talking so stupidly and causing trouble. Looking at it this way, the Taoist priests of the Kunlun sect, one of the old sects, seemed very sloppy.
“Hmm? Weren’t you talking about us all along? That’s why I came here.”
“When did we ever tell you about you?”
The Taoist priests looked at each other with puzzled expressions because of Mok Ja-gyeong’s voice speaking so eloquently.
“Didn’t you say we were dirty demonic bastards? How long are you going to pretend not to know?”
“No, that has never happened.”
It seemed that the Taoist Priests were going to continue to ignore the situation.
But Mok Ja-gyeong ’s smile deepened as he saw their hands gradually moving towards the waist where the sword was attached.
“I don’t want to cause trouble in Qinghai, the realm of Kunlun, but I also don’t want to let insults get to me.”
The bodies of the Taoist priests who saw Mok Ja-gyeong ’s smile flinched, and at the same time, Mok Ja-gyeong moved.
Shhh!
Mok Ja-gyeong’s hand shot straight at the head of one of the Taoist priests.
Puck!
And the Taoist priest’s head, which was unable to react, just exploded.
“Damn it!”
The Taoist monk, left alone, immediately flew out of the inn.
“Wow, whoa!”
“Come on, it’s a fight!”
The corpse of the Taoist monk, whose head had exploded, rolled on the floor, blood spurting everywhere, and those who saw it began to panic.
“Hmm. It’s running away.”
Mok Ja-gyeong was relaxed as he watched the Taoist monk run away.
“If things continue like this, it might be dangerous.”
He looked at the group with a smile, and said, “that disciple will report to Kunlun right away, and then we will inevitably become Kunlun’s target.”
Just as Jin Myeong had initially expected.
“Ah, that’s…….”
Bi Yeong looked back and forth between Jin Myeong and Mok Ja-gyeong . Clearly, Mok Ja-gyeong is telling Jin Myeong to chase after that Taoist monk and kill him.
“So?”
But contrary to his intention, Jin Myeong did not move. Rather, he was looking at him with a smile similar to that Mok Ja-gyeong had before.
“Hmm? Shouldn’t we chase after him before he reaches Kunlun?”
“When I look at it, it seems like the Senior Brother killed someone who didn’t need to be killed?”
“…….”
Bi Yeong’s body flinched at Jin Myeong’s words.
“Senior Brother caused the problem, so he should be one to solve it”, said Jin Myeong was eating his food in his seat, as if he wasn’t interested.
“This is tastier than I thought”, Jin Myeong said as he put the lamb that came with the noodles into his mouth.
Looking at his extremely peaceful appearance, Mok Ja-gyeong ’s face began to harden.
“It seems like our Youngest is making a joke of this execution.”
“That’s not true. It’s not like you should blame others for your own mistakes. You’re not a child.”
Jin Myeong looked up at Mok Ja-gyeong , who was no longer smiling.
“You have to take responsibility for what you do. You’re an adult.”
“Youngest!”, Mok Ja-gyeong ’s hand moved towards Jin Myeong.
It contained the same power that had exploded the head of the Kunlun sect Taoist monk a little while ago.
“Senior Brother Mok!”
Bi Yeong quickly moved to block Mok Ja-gyeong .
Bang!
But it wasn’t Bi Yeoung who stopped Mok Ja-gyeong ’s attack. Rather, it was Shin Ye-hyang, who had been eating without saying a word and without paying any attention to them, who blocked his attack.
“It doesn’t seem like a good idea to suddenly attack him.”
“Why are you stopping me, Lady Shin? This is between us, brother’s business.”
Mok Ja-gyeong tried to push away Shin Ye-hyang’s sword that was blocking her hand, but her sword did not budge.
“I think Young Master Jin’s thoughts are not wrong.”
“Then, does Lady Shin also think that it is right for Youngest to ignore my words?”
“Isn’t it a question of who is right or wrong?”
Mok Ja-gyeong looked at Shin Ye-hyang quietly.
“As Young Master Jin said, I think it is right for Senior Brother Mok to take responsibility since he was the one who started the incident.”
It was Mok Ja-gyeong who did something that didn’t have to be done.
“I would rather like to know the reason, why Lord Mok chose to kill them.”
‘If you insult me, can I kill you?’
‘That’s right.’
Because that was the world of martial arts.
However, if it was true that the Kunlun Sect really intended to do so as Jin Myeong said, and that they intended to kill the future of the Heavenly Demon Sect, then the story would be different.
“Does Senior Brother Mok really want to start a war?”
It is not known whether the Kunlun faction is truly prepared to wage war as Jin Myeong said. Because it was all just Jin Myeong’s predictions.
But now, it seemed as if Mok Ja-gyeong was trying to start a war by using the Kunlun faction.
“And your face doesn’t match your intention, Senior Brother.”
Mok Ja-gyeong’s face was very distorted.
Even though Shin Ye-hyang was looking at face that looked like a vicious demon, she maintained her usual appearance.
“Haha. I think Lady Shin is mistaken. Waging war? I just couldn’t control my anger for a moment because they insulted my sect.”
‘Is it because of Shin Ye-hyang’s comment?’
Mok Ja-gyeong’s once sinister-looking face had returned to its usual smiling face.
“But I’m a little disappointed. After all, this is us, Martial Brother’s business, and you’re interfering with it.”
“I see. I guess you could certainly think that way. But Young Master Jin is someone who cannot die now.”
Vice-Sect Leader and Jin Myeong joined hands. In the end, the Vice-Sect Leader says that he does not want Jin Myeong to die. Maybe Shin Ye-hyang was trying to protect Jin Myeong from death while also examining him.
“By the way, you eat well in this situation.”
“I guess you thought the young lady would protect you.”
Even in this situation, Jin Myeong had finally finished eating, and there was an empty plate in front of him.
“Yes.”
Despite saying that, when Mok Ja-gyeong attacked, Jin Myeong’s sword flinch. Perhaps if she hadn’t blocked the attack, Jin Myeong’s sword would have blocked it.
‘It’s a shame. I could have seen it in person’, Mok Ja-gyeong thought.
‘Only I saw it too late’, Jin Myeong thought.
Jin Myeong thought Shin Ye-hyang reacted because she saw him not reacting to Mok Ja-gyeong’s attack, so she moved herself, but it wasn’t because he didn’t react.
“So, what about it, Senior Brother Mok? Since it caused the problem, there must be a solution, right?”
After finishing his meal, Jin Myeong brought his tea back to his lips and asked calmly. Mok Ja-gyeong’s eyebrows twitched again at Jin Myeong’s appearance.
