Chapter 8 (Abandoned Disciple of Heavenly Demon)

Episode 8: Return (1)

“Ugh. What on earth are you trying to do?” Yang Jeon sighed and looked around the garden quietly.

“Where on earth, did he go?”

It’s already been a year since the owner of this manor disappeared.

‘At this rate, this place could disappear.’

A sigh did not leave Yang Jeon’s mouth.

‘But I really feel sorry for Young Master.’

The person has not been seen for a year. He can’t tell if Jin Myeong’s dead or alive. But no one was worried about him. Even the people working in this estate were the same.

‘Oh my. It’s only natural that I get to be with a Young Master like this.’

If it were anyone else, he would have left this place long ago.

‘I guess I should start looking for somewhere else too.’

But thanks to being in this house, he was able to have fun without having to work. But now that the owner of this manor has disappeared, it was only a matter of time before it would disappear.

‘The youngest disciple of the cult leader. But an abandoned disciple.’

That was the word referring to the owner of this estate.

“So, you said I was the owner of this place?”

“Tsk. If a young man is going to go crazy, he should go crazy nicely. Who would think that someone who came in such a beggarly state is the Sect Leader’s disciple?”

Yang Jeon thought there was a commotion outside the main gate of the manor. As he took a quick step forward, he saw the warrior guarding the door arguing with a dirty, beggar-like young man.

“What’s going on?”

“Ah, Butler Yang?”

The gatekeeper looked puzzled at the appearance of the butler, then pointed to the young man in front of him.

“Well, this beggar-like young man keeps saying he’s the owner of this place.”

“Hmm.”

Only after hearing that did Yang Jeon realize that the gatekeeper in front of him had entered this manor not long ago.

He was someone who had to be brought in in a hurry because the number of people was gradually decreasing.

“You may not know the Master’s face, so I will check.”

Yang Jeon said this and approached the young man to examine him. The young man, whose face was not visible due to his bushy brown hair, was carrying a wooden bucket on his shoulder.

And inside that barrel were several swords, all of which looked very good at first glance.

“Hair colour and skin colour are definitely…….”, it was an appearance that could not help but remind one of the owners of this manor.

“Huh? Your Excellency!”

And Yang Jeon could immediately tell that this dirty looking man was Jin Myeong, the owner of this estate.

“You seem to remember me.”

“Isn’t that obvious? More importantly, where have you been?”

“I’ll talk about the details later, but first, I’d like to go in.”

At Jin Myeong’s words, Yang Jeon hurriedly took Jin Myeong into the garden.

The gatekeeper, who was about to kick out the man who looked like a beggar after Yang Jeon was politely treated. He, could only look at the two of them with a blank expression.

“Nothing will happen”, Yang Jeon reassured the gatekeeper, otherwise he would have to find another job right away.

Or maybe his neck fell off.

‘Rumours had been, that Youngest Disciple of His majesty had a bad personality, but it didn’t seem like that.’

The gatekeeper looked at the backs of Jin Myeong and Yang Jeon, then sighed in relief as he stroked his neck.

“Where have you been?” as soon as he entered the manor with Jin Myeong, Yang Jeon immediately asked.

“There were circumstances.”

“What on earth is going on? Is it something you can’t even tell me?”

When Yang Jeon pressed him again, Jin Myeong sighed and looked at him.

“First of all, I want to go somewhere where there are no people.”

“Isn’t the estate already empty?”

As Yang Jeon said, there weren’t many people in Jin Myeong’s garden.

Jin Myeong’s estate was already smaller than the other estates, and since its owner had disappeared for a year, most of them had left.

“A place where there is no one.”

“Hmm. Well, let’s go to the bedroom for now.”

Eventually, the two headed to Jin Myeong’s bedroom.

“So now, please tell me. What’s going on?”

“That’s right.”

Jin Myeong sighed as he watched Yang Jeon grumble.

“I guess things aren’t too bad between us?”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“No, somehow I feel like it would be normal to want to kill someone if they treat you like this, but I can see that you don’t seem that angry.”

Despite Jin Myeong’s words, Yang Jeon was still smiling brightly.

“It’s not like we’ve only known each other for a day or two. Didn’t you say that you don’t trust anyone else but me, who grew up like a brother to you?”

Jin Myeong looked at Yang Jeon quietly for a while and then shook his head.

‘I don’t know this guy at all.’

Like Jin Myeong, he is a guy who did not appear in the original novel. So, Jin Myeong couldn’t decide whether he could trust this guy or not.

‘But I have to say something.’

Anyway, Jin Myeong needs to talk to this guy about the current situation so he can get advice on what to do next.

“Why on earth are you doing that?”

“To put it simply, I lost my memory.”

“Huh? What do you mean?”

Yang Jeon looked bewildered at the words that he had lost his memory and had cut off everything.

No, how does someone who lost his memory come to this manor, and how does he remember?

“It’s not like I lost everything; I remember some things. Things like my name, your name, and that my home is here.”

Although there were some things that came to mind, there were more things he didn’t know.

He just knew a few things he needed to know here.

“Would anyone believe, if you just showed up a year later and said you had lost your memory?” Yang Jeon still didn’t seem to believe Jin Myeong’s words.

Rather, he was frowning as if he didn’t even want to hear it.

“From the moment I opened my eyes, I was being attacked by someone.”

“Assassination?”

Only after hearing the word attack did Yang Jeon’s expression change.

“I have a question. Where was I, when I was attacked?”

“You were probably drinking at the bar as usual.”

“Hmm…. when I was walking to the estate, no one followed me?”

However, he is a disciple of the sect leader, Heavenly Demon. But it was strange that he went to the bar and drank without any escort.

“Yes. Are there aren’t many people around you, Young Master? I am the only one who is stuck here.”

But Yang Jeon nodded as if it was natural and answered.

“Since you say you really lost your memory, I will tell you. There is no one around you, Young Master. It is because of your personality.”

In fact, there was no one in Jin Myeong’s estate who could be called an unmanned one.

It’s not that Jin Myeong disappeared and the people left. There had been no one in the manor before he disappeared.

“Of course, it’s not just because of personality.”

“Hmm.”

Jin Myeong was the one with the least presence among Heavenly Demon’s disciples. It would have been fortunate if he had no presence, but he had no ability either.

“Everyone left because they had no expectations to you, Young Master.”

As it became increasingly known that Jin Myeong was unable to learn martial arts, and even the leader of the sect, Heavenly Demon, didn’t pay attention to him, Jin Myeong became increasingly alone.

“If they stayed by Young Master’ side for no reason, they will die without being able to achieve success.”

Jin Myeong sighed at those straightforward words.

“It’s sad that I can’t kill such an insolent subordinate.”

“Haha! If not me, who else could say such things to Young Master?”

Even though he kept hearing these words, Jin Myeong didn’t feel bad.

“You’re not leaving.”

“I have nowhere to go anyway. Neither does I want to glory or anything like that.”

Jin Myeong looked at Yang Jeon quietly and sighed.

“Anyway, if what you’re saying is true, then I was drinking in the bar when I was attacked? Alone, without any escort.”

“Yes. Because you always ate alone.”

So, Jin Myeong would have eaten it by himself without any worries.

‘Who would have ever thought that someone would try to kill a guy like me?’

A body abandoned by heaven.

A body without any talent for martial arts.

A disciple who even gave up on the Heavenly Demon’s position.

Of course, he was already behind in competition with other disciples. So, the raid couldn’t help but feel strange.

“I have a question.”

“What are you curious about?”

“Was I like this from the beginning?”

The question of Jin Myeong’s authenticity is legitimate. He is the disciple of the cult leader.

If he had no talent, the Heavenly Demon wouldn’t have accepted him as a disciple.

“Hmm. So, you’re curious as to why you became the leader’s disciple?”

“Yes.”

“To put it simply, it was thanks to Young Master’ father…….”

Jin Myeong’s father was a famous leader of a military force.

“So, Young Master went to see their training quite often.”

It was possible because of body owner’s father. If it had been anyone else, his head would have been cut off.

But there was an incident there where Jin Myeong’s genius was revealed.

“It was there that Young Master immediately figured out the weaknesses of the martial arts that the members were learning.”

“Weakness?”

“It’s like if you pull your foot back a step, your attack becomes sharper.”

It was just a few very small things. But the martial arts which they learnt for generations become stronger through your advice.

The attack became sharper and the defence became stronger.

“The leader took interest in you because your talent was well-known. Hmm. You were definitely outstanding, but…….”

No matter what, he wondered if that alone was really enough to make him a disciple of Heavenly Demon.

‘My body is such a mess.’

What he was curious about was whether his body had been cursed, hence his body behave like that, or it was from the beginning.

But it seemed that Yang Jeon didn’t know exactly what it was.

‘It looks like someone cursed this body.’

It’s as if someone wanted to keep him away from learning martial arts. Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense.

It is impossible for the Heavenly Demon, who is closest to the best in the world, to not have eyes for his disciples.

‘Heavenly Demon would not have accepted him as a disciple because of his limited understanding or ability to see martial arts.’

That’s what Jin Myeong thought and hoped for.

‘Wouldn’t that be the only way to make this messed up body normal?’

“So, what about my parents?”

“Hmm.”

Yang Jeon looked embarrassed at Jin Myeong’s question.

“Your mother passed away a long time ago. Your father also passed away when you were young.”

“Hmm.”

“Not long after Young Master became the disciple of the religious leader, your father passed away.”

Although it didn’t answer all his questions, he was still able to learn quite a bit about the existence of Jin Myeong.

“But please tell me now. What have you been doing for a year? I know you’ve been out of sight, but…….”

Yang Jeon couldn’t figure out what Jin Myeong did during that year. But he felt that Jin Myeong was very different from before.

It’s probably not just because he lost his memory.

“I learnt martial arts.”

“You learnt martial arts?”

“Yes. I learnt martial arts. Over the course of a year.”

Yang Jeon, who knew Jin Myeong’s constitution, still looked in disbelief. Jin Myeong remained calm even as he received the distrustful gaze of his subordinates.

“That’s what I said.”

“What else are you trying to ask?”

“It’s not that difficult. I was just wondering how I could get the Master’s attention.”

Yang Jeon looked at Jin Myeong quietly and shook his head.
